Procedure

The specification designs must be within 98 percent level of precision. The precision requirements for the sketch models will be based on the material and tools used to construct the model.

The dimension drawings provided are based on designs created for the International Space Station. The components suggested for this activity are highlighted in blue in the exploded view presented in Figure 2 below.

Typical Technology Education Classroom Laboratories

To Produce a finished ISS component design layout students must:

  • Obtain and organize background and other descriptive information available about the specifications, dimensions, functions, etc. of the element to be modeled.
  • Create text descriptions of specification, sketch drawings, engineering drawings of element from all required views.
  • Determine the instruments required for measuring, marking, and construction operations.
  • Determine order at which those operations shall be executed.
  • Determine whether paper-based drawing tools or computer-aided drawing software will be used to create specification drawings.
