Construction Constraints

1. Design Layout Requirements

Projects must follow a written design plan that addresses the following questions:

  • What are your expectations of how the final project should look?
  • What type of material will be used to build the ISS model based on the design layout?
  • Explain why this material was selected?
  • What tools will be used in the production of this part?
  • How does the above information help to determine the steps involved in the model construction process?

2. Documentation of Procedures and Techniques

  1. Typical Technology Education Classroom Laboratories
Document the tool techniques and procedures used to create the design drawings.
  2. Vocational Technical Machining Classroom Laboratories
Document the software used to create the design drawings. Provide documentation regarding how files were created. Describe the format in which digital files are archived and where the archived files are located.

3. Evaluation of Design Plan, Operations and Procedures

  1. Typical Technology Education Classroom Laboratories
Final reports must include evaluations of the design drawings, dimensions, and descriptions of step by step construction operations and procedures.
  2. Vocational Technical Machining Classroom Laboratories
Final reports must include evaluations of the blueprints and a summary of step by step machining and assembly operations and procedures.
