Presenting the Lesson - Teacher Tips

If you lack facilities, have one half of your class work on this activity while the other half works on a different activity. Students will require water containers in which they can test their designs.

Safety Warnings: Beware Dangerous Materials
Sharp edges of metal cans can cut students. Welding, if this is an option, should be performed only with proper instruction and supervision. Appropriate eye protection should be worn at all times. Before using super glue, protective lining should be placed on the table and correct opening, usage, closing, and storage procedures should be demonstrated. If glue gets on skin, acetone (nail polish remover) should be on hand to remove it in a well-ventilated area. Hands should be thoroughly washed after usage.
